The perfect dumpling sauce for dipping potstickers, spring rolls, and so much more! Fresh ginger, garlic, and green onions pack in the fresh flavor to compliment a perfect balance of savory and sweet. This 5 minute no heat recipe is easy and delicious.
Ready for a flavor packed dumpling sauce?
This dumpling sauce is seriously so easy… and who doesn’t love that? You can even have this sauce done and ready for dipping in less than five minutes.
It also makes the most amazing leftover sauce because the longer it sits, the more flavor it gets. Yum!
Because it’s so simple and easy to make, this post will be a short one. I’ll try to keep it to the point so that you can get to enjoying this as soon as possible. (we’re all pressed on time, right?)
It’s as easy as 1, 2, DONE!
First, mince the garlic and ginger. Use a plastic or synthetic cutting board for this, as any wood board will soak up the juices of the garlic. Next, slice the green onions into small rings. All your chopping is done!
Measure out the rest of the ingredients into a small bowl. Mix everything until well combined. Add your freshly chopped garlic, ginger, and green onions to the sauce. DONE!
It’s best to let the sauce “soak” in the flavors for about 30 minutes before serving, so go ahead and prep this before you start dinner.
Even your dumplings will thank you!
This sauce will keep in your fridge for about a week, or until the green onions start to lose their freshness.

I have a recipe for some amazing vegan potstickers to go with this yummy sauce. Be sure to give it a try if you haven’t already!
The BEST Dumpling Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ginger, fresh
- 2 cloves garlic, fresh
- 2 tbsp green onion
Instructions
- On a plastic or synthetic cutting board, mince your garlic and ginger. Chop the green onions horizontally to make small rings. Place everything in a small bowl for the next step.
- Add the remaining ingredients to the small bowl and mix until combined. Enjoy the sauce now, or allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes for fuller flavor.
Notes
- Everything in this recipe is adjustable to your taste. Use low sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos for a less salty sauce. Up your brown sugar for a sweeter sauce. Add sriracha or up the chili garlic paste for a hotter sauce. Go wild!
- If you are low fat / no oil, simply omit the sesame oil. It adds flavor, but serves no purpose beyond that.
